The History of Draft on Taft
The initial Draft on Taft event was held in the summer of 2000. It was an event created by a group of friends living in two houses on the corner of 10th and Taft Street directly across from Piedmont Park. Their initial goal was to create an event to start the summer off with good times, good food, and great local music. The first event hosted approximately 300 people and was an immediate success. The guys knew they had a good event and realized this was a great opportunity to give back.
Due to the success, the guys established a non-profit a registered 501(c)3 organization, with its mission to be an organization of friends dedicated to raising funds for worthy causes. Each year a different charity is selected as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the event. Many differing criteria have determined the specific charities but improving the quality of life in segments of our society still remains our overall goal.
Currently
This year will be the 9th annual Draft on Taft and to date the organization has donated approximately $100,000 to local and national charities. The event has grown with each year getting bigger and better. The success of each event is based on the uniqueness that it offers and the support we receive from our sponsors and friends.
Draft on Taft is the annual event that brings good food and great music to the heart of Atlanta.
